SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM
The Algonac Community School District is pleased to announce the sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program for Children. Free meals will be made available to children 18 years of age and under, or persons up to 26 years of age who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled that is recognized by a state or local public educational agency. Meals will be provided at the sites listed below:
Location: Algonac Elementary School, 1300 St. Clair Blvd, Algonac
Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Dates: July 17 through August 16, 2012
Times: 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Location: Blue Water Learning Academy, 9541 Phelps Road, Algonac
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Dates: June 18 through August 30, 2012*
Times: 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
* This site will be closed the week of July 2 through July 5.
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) PROGRAMME
The class of 2012 will be Algonac High School’s first class to graduate students who have participated in the International Baccalaureate Programme. Some early results appear to show some very positive returns:
- 83 individual IB subject area tests were taken
- Nine seniors completed the full IBDP Programme (they took 12 IB courses over their Junior and Senior year in addition to completing an Extended Essay, C.A.S. Project (community service component) and an additional Theory of Knowledge course.
- 224 students are enrolled in IB courses
- Students who participated in IB courses experienced significantly higher ACT scores.
