ALGONQUIN MIDDLE SCHOOL DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Money and permission slips for the CJ Barrymore’s MEAP trip are due this Friday, May 18. The date was incorrectly listed as Wednesday, May 18 on the permission slips. No money or permission slips will be accepted after this date.
- Info about the Ms. Seeley’s Cedar Point trip:
~ We will be leaving at 11 a.m. from Algonquin Middle School on Friday, May 18th.
~ We will return on Saturday, May 19th around midnight-1am. Parents should plan to pick students up at Algonquin Middle School.
~ Students should bring $25 on the trip (lunch is not provided on Saturday and everyone is responsible for buying their own).
- Attention Students and Parents: Next week (May 21st – May 25th) is College Week at AMS! We encourage all students to wear school appropriate college apparel each day of the week. While we have titled this week “College Week”, we have made plans for so much more information for students and parents that include post secondary plans, but are not limited to just that topic. The mission of College Week is to keep all our stakeholders positively focused on life after Algonquin and the continued success they can have moving forward. We are excited about a great week ahead! The following exciting events will take place at AMS over the course of the week.
- Staff led daily discussions about post secondary education and possible opportunities to advance beyond high school.
- “IB and ME” Night on Monday, May 21st starting at 5:00 pm in the AMS Media Center. High School Principal Brian Brutyn will present on the world renowned International Baccalaureate program at AHS.
- 8th grade trip to SC4 on May 23rd. All 8th graders will have a chaperoned tour of campus as well as detailed information about college life at the community college level.
- 9th Grade Orientation at AHS for all 8th grade students on May 25th. This program will include presentations, lunch, and a tour of Algonac High School.
Again, we are looking forward to a great week!
- The Metro Beach trip for 8th grade students is scheduled for Tuesday, June 5th. In case of a rain out, the backup date is Wednesday, June 6th Students who have accumulated a total of 4 tardies in all classes (not each class) between the dates of March 12th and June 4th will not be eligible to participate without a parental chaperone.
- The Track meet scheduled for May 17th has been canceled - please update your calendar.
- See what everyone’s talking about! A revolutionary change in the way that kids learn and play tennis, as well as compete, is happening across the country, and you should be a part of it! - Middle School track needs parents to work the concession stand for our home meet: Thursday, May 24th. Any volunteers can contact Mrs. Smith at jsmith@algonac.k12.mi.us or (810) 794-9317 ext. 3330 or show up at 1:45 to the concession stand. Proceeds from track meet concessions will benefit the MS track program or any team that volunteers designate.

21ST CENTURY LEARNING SYMPOSIUM: Show the world what learning could be. Here’s your chance to present at our Student Showcase. Design a presentation that showcases how you use technology for learning – either in or out of school. Students selected will get a CASH PRIZE! PARENT NEWS:
- There are a limited number yearbooks left from last year, 2010-2011 ($25.00/each). If you didn't get one last year, this is your chance! Please come to the front office to purchase one.
- The last Parent Connect meeting is May 8th @ 9 a.m.
- Please continue turning in your 'Boxtops for Education', and Campbell's soup labels to the front office. This is an easy way for our school to raise funds!!!
